Universal has won a bidding war for the movie rights to Stephen King's sci-fi horror novel 'The Tommyknockers'. Director James Wan has signed on to co-produce the film, which does not yet have a writer or director. 'The Tommyknockers' which King debuted in 1987, takes place in the state of Maine and examines the effects of a supernatural gas on a community. In the past however, King has said he isn’t a fan of 'The Tommyknockers', once labeling it an “awful book.” Now, fans will have to see if Wan stays true to the source material or goes in a different direction.
