Late Night Snacking Affects Your Work Performance The Next Day
A new study has found that having too many late-night snacks is linked to poor work performance the following day.
The researchers asked 97 full-time U.S. workers a series of questions three times a day for ten days.
The participants answered questions about their physical and emotional well-being before leaving for work each day.
After finishing work, the participants answered questions about what they did during their workday.
They also reported on all their eating and drinking habits in the evening.
Those with unhealthy eating habits were more likely to report engaging in less “helpful behavior” during work.
Unhealthy eaters were also more likely to exhibit more “withdrawal behavior” while at work.
For the first time, we have shown that healthy eating immediately affects our workplace behaviors and performance, Seonghee “Sophia” Cho, Study Author.
