Macy Gray Thinks The American Flag Should Be Redesigned

In an op-ed she wrote for Market Watch, singer Macy Gray has said that she believes the American flag should be redesigned.
In the piece, the singer addressed US President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and members of Congress.
She wrote that the American flag “has been hijacked as code for a specific belief”.
Similar to the Confederate flag, she believes it is "tattered, dated, divisive, and incorrect”.
Gray believes that the US flag no longer represents all American people and that it’s “not fair to be forced to honor it”.
She also thinks there should be 52 stars on the flag as “D.C. and Puerto Rico have been lobbying for statehood for decades”.
The singer suggested that the stars should be the “the colors of ALL of us”, like a “melanin scale”.
Sixty-two years later, in 2021, we have changed and it’s time for a reset, a transformation. One that represents all states and all of us, Macy Gray.
