Bayern Munich have announced that Jerome Boateng will leave the club at the end of the season.
The German defender’s contract with the club will expire this summer and Bayern have decided not to extend his deal.
That was a joint decision of the club management and the coach was also involved. I explained that to Jerome and he was very understanding. He leaves through a big door - hopefully with titles, Bayern Munich Sporting Director, Hasan Salihamidzic.
Boateng has spent the last 10 years of his career at the Allianz arena after joining the club from Manchester City in 2011.
Boateng has won 21 trophies in his 10-year stay at the club, winning the league, cup and Champions League treble twice.
Boateng will be hoping to go out on a high by helping Bayern win the Champions League for the second time in a row.
The 32-year-old has played 31 games for Bayern this season, scoring two goals for the Bundesliga leaders.
