Music streaming service Spotify is launching in 85 new markets. This will bring the service to over one billion extra people.
The new markets are in developing countries in Asia, Africa, the Pacific and the Caribbean.
The company’s expansion into India, Russia and the Middle East has already brought in millions of new subscribers.
Some of the places we’re going like Bangladesh, Pakistan and Nigeria have the fastest growing internet populations in the world, Alex Norstrom, Spotify Spokesperson.
Spotify is currently available in 93 countries and has 345 million monthly active users.
Many musicians have criticized the Swedish company’s streaming royalties, calling them inadequate.
Spotify is reluctant to raise its subscription prices due to increasing competition from the likes of Apple, Amazon and Google.
