Tiger Woods has put a stop to his season indefinitely following the fifth back surgery of his career.
Woods underwent a procedure to remove a pressurized disc fragment in his back that was causing him discomfort.
The 45-year-old had the procedure on December 23 and will miss a number of PGA tour events.
Woods last played in December during the PNC Championship with his son but had one of his worst years of golf in 2020.
Rory Mcilroy says he’s known about the surgery for some time and expects Woods to be back for the Masters.
Obviously, he won't be playing for the next couple of months but he should be back for the Masters, if not before that, so I think he'll be just fine, Rory McIlroy.
Between August 2015 and December 2017, Woods played in just one PGA Tour event due to his reoccurring back problems.
