Cher has filed a lawsuit against Mary Bono, the widow of Sonny Bono, for allegedly withholding royalties generated by Sonny & Cher in the 1960s.
Bono is being accused of keeping Cher from her share of the royalties for hit songs such as I Got You Babe and The Beat Goes On.
The lawsuit, which was filed in Los Angeles federal court, is asking for $1 million.
Cher and Sonny divorced in 1975, however, they agreed to split the royalties from their music.
Cher is accusing Mary Bono, of undoing her ownership of the rights and royalties but the suit doesn’t state how this could have happened.
Sonny & Cher were a hugely popular duo in the 1960s and 1970s.
Cher went on to have a successful solo career, while Sonny became a Republican congressman.
Sonny died in a skiing accident in 1998.
