This teen Olympian overslept and still won a gold medal. 17-year-old snowboarder Red Gerard almost missed is slopestyle event because he was up late the night before watching Netflix. To further add to the flustered situation, he had to borrow his roommate’s snow jacket, because he couldn’t find his own.
“I did want my jacket. It was a size small jacket and I had to step it up to a large, so I'm talking it was down at my thighs,” Gerard stated to ABC News. “It was a really hectic morning.”
Despite all of that, he still went out and won an Olympic gold medal. And, if all that isn’t hilarious enough, Gerard accidentally dropped the f-bomb on live TV after winning.
Gerard’s entire outlook in the Olympics is actually just as lackadaisical as his morning before his big match. When asked about what he thought about being at the Olympics he stated, “I didn't really, to be honest, grow up watching the Olympics. It was always Dew Tour, X-Games, U.S. Open and all that that I was watching,” he said. “So I didn’t have as much pressure coming into it and it was just another event.”
He definitely has an insanely laid-back attitude — but it seems to be working for him!
