Ruth E. Carter Makes History With Star On Hollywood Walk Of Fame

Legendary costume designer Ruth E. Carter has been honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Carter is best known for her work on movies such as ‘Malcolm X’, ‘Amistad’ and ‘Black Panther’. She is only the second costume designer to receive a star on the Walk of Fame. The only other costume designer to be honored with a star is Edith Head, who was honored back in 1960. In 2018, Carter became the first Black woman to win the Oscar for costume design for her work on ‘Black Panther’. She has worked with legendary directors such as Spike Lee, Steven Spielberg and John Singleton.
