Boxing star Mike Tyson has been asked by Malawi to become the official ambassador for the country’s cannabis crops.
Malawi recently legalized the growing and processing of cannabis for medical use.
The former world heavyweight champion is familiar with the cannabis industry, having invested in a cannabis farm in the US.
The country’s Agriculture Minister, Lobin Low, sent a letter to Tyson asking him to take up the role.
Malawi may not go it alone as the industry is complex [and requires] collaboration. I would therefore like to appoint you, Mr. Mike Tyson, as Malawi's Cannabis Branch ambassador, Lobin Low, Malawi’s Agriculture Minister.
The US Cannabis Association is facilitating the deal and its Malawi branch has revealed that Tyson has accepted the offer.
Plans are underway for the boxer to visit Malawi soon.
