A new study has found that looking at your phone will cause other people nearby to do the same.
Researchers in Italy investigated a phenomenon where people subconsciously copy the physical actions of another human.
It was found that half of the 184 study participants looked at their phone 30 seconds after a subconscious trigger.

The experts say mammals have evolved to subconsciously mimic each others’ behavior to encourage group bonding.
However, looking at a phone while in a group likely doesn’t have social benefits due to it being an insular activity.
