A new study has found that fans of less successful soccer clubs are more loyal to each other than fans of successful teams.
Researchers in the UK found that fans of Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool were the least loyal.
Supporters of Crystal Palace, Hull and Norwich were found to be the most loyal to each other.
The findings suggest that watching a team lose regularly strengthens supporters’ social bonds with each other.

Supporters of less successful teams were even more willing to sacrifice their own lives to save other fans of their club
