The U.S. government is running a competition to see if anyone can design a better face mask.
The Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) is running the competition.
The competition aims to solve the problems that come with wearing regular facemasks, including the fogging of eyeglasses.
The competition is divided into two phases, with up to ten winners in Phase 1 and five winners from Phase 2.
Phase 1 will focus on design, and each of the ten winners will receive $10,000.
The five winners from Phase 2, which focuses on proof-of-concept, will split $400,000 between each other.
Entrants do not need to enter Phase 1 in order to take part in Phase 2. However, all entries must be submitted by April 21.
