Toy car maker Matchbox has announced a selection of new models of electric vehicles made from 99% recycled material.
The new models were announced alongside Mattel’s ‘Drive Toward a Better Future’ product roadmap.
The project aims to make all Matchbox die-cast cars, playsets and packaging from 100% recycled material by 2030.
Matchbox is committing to using 100% recycled, recyclable or bio-based plastic materials to do our part in addressing the environmental issues we face today, Global Head Of Vehicles At Mattel, Roberto Stanichi.
To show their commitment to a greener future Mattel has unveiled the Matchbox Tesla Roadster.
The Tesla Roadster is the company's first die-cast model made from 99% recycled material.
Matchbox is also releasing other electric vehicle models, including the Nissan Leaf, BMW i3 and the i8.
In the fall, the company will launch a fuel station and garage playset, which will feature EV charging stations.
