UPS has announced that it will be adding electric aircraft to its delivery fleet.
UPS is planning to order 10 electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing aircraft (eVTOL) from Beta Technologies.
The aircraft have a 1,400-pound cargo capacity and will be used for quick and time-sensitive deliveries.
The company says that the aircraft will greatly benefit healthcare providers and thousands of smaller businesses.
This is all about innovation with a focus on returns for our business, our customers, and the environment, UPS Chief Information and Engineering Officer Juan Perez.
UPS has also ordered rapid charging stations from Beta, which will allow for the aircraft to be charged in under an hour.
UPS also has the option to increase its original order of 10 eVTOL aircraft to 150.
