Autistic Adults Thrive At Florida Car Wash
Provided By - Video Elephant on April 13, 2021
John D'Eri and his son Tom first opened the Rising Tide Car Wash in April of 2013 to provide his autistic son Andrew, with a means of employment.
When John and Tom thought about the things Andrew was good at and then researched the top level skills of people with autism, they found a common theme - process driven detail oriented. Learning that 80% - 90% of people struggled finding employment, they set out to find a business where Andrew and others with autism could find success and achieve a feeling of accomplishment.
Since opening its doors, Rising Tide Car Wash now employs over 35 adults with autism. They not only provide a paycheck, but a place to make friends and build confidence by earning a sense of independence. Their employees take great pride in their work due to their strong work ethic and keen attention to detail.
General Manager Kevin Wolyniec feels like the big brother for the team. "These guys have never had job support or careers," he says "so for them it's a once in a lifetime opportunity. They love this place. This is their family."
You can rest assured that after these hard-workers are done with your car, it'll be the cleanest in town!
