Lewis Hamilton has criticized the Hungarian government’s recent anti-LGBTQ+ law ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Hungary recently banned gay people from featuring in school educational materials or TV shows for under-18s.
Ahead of the Grand Prix in Budapest, Hamilton posted a message on Instagram in support of the LGBTQ+ community.
It is unacceptable, cowardly and misguiding for those in power suggest such a law. Everyone deserves to have the freedom to be themselves, no matter who they love or how they identify, Lewis Hamilton.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said a national vote would be held to gauge domestic support for the law.
The European Commission launched legal action against Budapest over the measure.
