A diamond believed to be the third-largest ever found has been discovered in Botswana.
The Debswana Diamond Company unearthed the 1,098-carat diamond.
The stone is the largest diamond the company has found in its 50 years of existence.
"From our preliminary analysis, it could be the world’s third-largest gem-quality stone, Lynette Armstrong," Acting Managing Director Debswana Diamond Company.
The yet-to-be-named diamond measures 73mm long, 52mm wide and 27mm thick.
The diamond is only slightly lighter than the second-largest diamond in the world, which was also found in Botswana.
Botswana is Africa’s largest producer of diamonds.
