Last fall news broke that Spike Lee planned to direct Nightwatch, a comic book film, part of Sony’s Spider-Man spinoff universe. Reports say that Lee will explore race themes in the comic book genre, as Nightwatch involves a black superhero. The hunt is currently on to cast a black actor, aged 25-40, to play the starring role, as well as the yet un-titled female lead. Two-time Oscar nominated Lee is known for socially and politically provocative films like Do the Right Thing, Malcolm X, and 25th Hour. Lee's docudrama "BlacKkKlansman" hits theaters this summer.
