Coffee Could Lower Risk Of Alzheimer’s Disease

Provided By - Video Elephant on November 23, 2021
A new study has revealed drinking higher amounts of coffee may make you less likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease. Researchers from Edith Cowan University investigated the effect coffee intake had on cognitive decline. The researchers examined 200 people over a 10-year period to see how coffee impacted cognitive ability. The researchers found that coffee consumption seemed to play a key role in limiting cognitive impairment. "We found participants with no memory impairments and with higher coffee consumption at the start of the study had a lower risk of transitioning to mild cognitive impairment," Dr. Samantha Gardener, Edith Cowan University. Higher coffee intake appeared to be linked to slowing the accumulation of the amyloid protein in the brain. Amyloid proteins are said to play a central role in Alzheimer's disease.
