The Miami Heat will be using coronavirus-sniffing dogs to screen fans at AmericanAirlines Arena.
A limited number of season ticket holders are set to return to games starting this week.
The Heat will be limiting fan attendance to 2,000, which is roughly 10% of the arena’s capacity.
The team’s EVP for business strategy Matthew Jafarian says the use of detection dogs at the arena is not new.
If you think about it, detection dogs are not new… We've used them at the arena for years to detect explosives, Matthew Jafarian, The Heat’s EVP for business strategy.
All attendees will be required to wear masks and all transactions will be cashless.
Isolation rooms will also be available in case a fan feels ill during a game.
Coronavirus-sniffing dogs have previously been used at airports in Dubai and Helsinki
