According to UPI, a new study found that people who eat breakfast before exercising burn more carbohydrates and more rapidly digest post-workout meals. The study was conducted by scientists at the University of Bath's Department for Health in England. For the first time, researchers studied the effect of eating breakfast versus fasting overnight before an hour of cycling. To conduct the study, the blood glucose levels and muscle glycogen levels of 12 healthy male volunteers were studied. One of the study's lead researchers said that not only did "breakfast before exercise increases carbohydrate burning during exercise" it also burned carbohydrates "stored in our muscles as glycogen."
