Tiger Woods is awake and responsive after surgery following a car crash that could have cost him his life.
Woods’ SUV struck a sign and crossed over a raised median and two oncoming lanes before falling down an embankment.
Woods suffered significant orthopedic injuries due to the crash and was treated at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.

Woods sustained comminuted open fractures affecting both the upper and lower portions of his tibia and fibula.
He also sustained injuries to his foot and ankle that were stabilized with a combination of screws and pins.
The former world number one has not played golf since December 23 following the fifth back surgery of his career.
