Disney has announced that its remaining 2021 movies will debut in theaters before coming to Disney+.
This comes after Disney experienced “tremendous box office success” over the summer.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings made $247.6 million globally in a little over two weeks.
Most of Disney’s scheduled releases will now be in theaters exclusively for 45 days.
Such movies include Marvel’s Eternals, West Side Story and The King's Man.
Animated movie Encanto will debut in theaters for a month before coming to Disney+ on Christmas Eve.
We look forward to entertaining audiences in theaters, while maintaining the flexibility to give our Disney+ subscribers the gift of Encanto this holiday season, Kareem Daniel, Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution Chairman
