According to director Viktor Kossakovsky, Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara have welcomed a baby boy.
Kossakovsky revealed the news during the Zurich Film Festival while promoting his new film 'Gunda'.
Phoenix was an executive producer on the film.
He just got a baby, by the way, ... a beautiful son called River, so he cannot promote [the film] right now, Viktor Kossakovsky.
Phoenix and Mara named their son River, after Joaquin’s late brother River Phoenix.
He died in 1993 at the age of 23 years old from a drug overdose, Joaquin was 19 years old at the time.
River Phoenix is best known for his roles in Stand By Me, Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade, and My Own Private Idaho.
I feel like in virtually every movie that I made, there was a connection to River in some way, Joaquin Phoenix.
This is Phoenix and Mara’s first child together. However, they have yet to publicly confirm the news.
Mara’s pregnancy was never confirmed, but she was seen in public earlier this year with a baby bump.
The couple first met on the set of the movie 'Her' in 2013 and have starred in several movies together
