Kids Use Boxing To Knockout Obesity

Restaurant owner Dimitrios Verteouris lost 100 pounds in only six months through healthy eating and boxing workouts. His incredible weight loss journey inspired him to take on a new opponent: childhood obesity.
In 2013, Dimitrios founded an anti-obesity boxing initiative called Knockout Obesity with help from team member Dr. Wendy Scinta, a childhood obesity expert, author and bariatric surgeon. At The Boys' Club of New York in Manhattan, KO Obesity hosted a boxing program for kids ages 6 to 19, featuring professionals like former WBA welterweight champion Paul Malignaggi and three time NY Golden Glove winner, Gary Stark, Jr. Other professional boxers who support Dimitrios' mission include Marcus Browne, Danny Jacobs, and Shemuel Pagan.
