Epic Games are giving Fortnite players 1,000 V-Bucks in order to settle a class-action lawsuit over loot boxes.
Players who purchased “loot llamas” containing randomized items will see the in-game reward added to their account.
Epic sold the item in the ‘Save The World’ mode of Fortnite and sold similar items in 'Rocket League’ until early 2019.
The change came when Epic changed their view on random item loot boxes.
First, it’s the right thing to do and we feel strongly about random item loot boxes. And two, we feel good about the settlement. We hope our players agree with us, Jeffrey Jacobson, A Partner At The Law Firm Faegre Drinker Representing Epic.
Rocket League players who bought similar in-game items will also be given 1,000 credits.
Epic says that 6.5 million Fortnite players and 2.9 million Rocket League players will benefit from the settlement.
