Shakira Becomes The Latest Artist To Sell Her Song Rights

Shakira is the latest celebrity to sell the rights to her music in a multi-million dollar deal. The singer has sold all 145 of her songs, including popular tracks such as ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ and ‘She Wolf’. She has sold over 80 million records worldwide and her music has made her the best-selling female Latin artist of all time. Shakira sold her music to Hipgnosis Song Fund, a company that also recently bought music rights from Blondie and Neil Young. The company usually pays the equivalent of 15 years worth of royalties to artists. Hipgnosis has bought the music rights from artists such as Nile Rodgers, Barry Manilow, and Fleetwood Mac’s Lindsey Buckingham
