Mike Babcock Named Head Coach Of The University Of Saskatchewan

Provided By - Video Elephant on February 22, 2021
Mike Babcock has been named the head coach of the University of Saskatchewan men's hockey team. The announcement came on February 20 and will be Babcock’s first job since being fired by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2019. Before that, he had spent 17 seasons as an NHL head coach with the Anaheim Ducks, Red Wings and Maple Leafs. He has most recently worked as an NBC analyst but says he is excited to get started with his new team. Saskatchewan has provided me many opportunities in my life and my career, and I am truly excited about the opportunity to give back, Mike Babcock. Babcock will begin his new role in May 2021, after Dave Adolph officially retires on May 1 after 27 years with the team. The Maple Leafs still owe Babcock $5.8 million a year until his eight-year contract expires in June, 2023.
